Schools: Educational facilities are often faced with unique and
diverse acoustical problems. Sometimes these are mere annoyances while, in
other instances, these problems cause deficiencies which render the particular
space non-functional for its intended use.

Specific rooms where special
attention should be paid to acoustics include:
Problems within a given space relate to two conditions:
Excessive noise levels
Excessive reverberation causing distortion
These are generally, but not necessarily, concurrent. While
excessive noise levels are generally self-evident; problems relating to
reverberation may tend to be more subtle. There is a big difference
between hearing and understanding. We have all experienced the difficulty in
understanding an announcement in an airport, arena or similar space due to the
distortion of the speech caused by excessive reverberation. This is typical and
usually an obvious problem in lecture halls, auditoriums, gymnasiums and
multipurpose space. Students with slight hearing problems are frequently unable
to understand enough to learn. Less obvious are the problems of
distortion in rooms where sound is recorded or electronically transmitted; that
is, until the recording is played back - or the transmitted sound is picked up
on the receiving end. We all know how terrible people usually sound on a
speaker phone.
We address these problems with expertise and the
effective use of materials and systems. By absorbing sound we reduce noise
levels and control distortion. our barrier systems impede the transmission of
sound between spaces. Our sound masking creates confidential speech privacy in
counseling space and neutralizes distractions in libraries and study
space.
Our experience and products can provide solutions to these and other problems.
